It was wonderful to be part of the first Sherborne Literary Festival.
Here’s what online newspaper The Solent had to say about my writing workshop:
Sherborne Literary Festival 2012 – Review

A staple feature of Sherborne, Swan Yard played a starring role in the festival; a place responsible for the majority of Dorset’s high calories. Tucked away in the upstairs of Sherborne’s newest venue, The Arch, Lorna V conducted a packed-out workshop on the art of finding your writing voice. Some of her activities included having us write our worst attributes alongside our best, and then read them out, to the astonishment and embarrassment of attendees (reading out loud that I was ‘extremely stubborn’ with my dad sitting next to me, was met with a great cough/guffaw from him). It worked well though, quiet laughter rippled as each read out their worst personality traits, but a closer feel was eventually established among the group. A powerful lesson learnt; transcribe these traits into your stories, scripts and poems and you have yourself an authentic character, showered with your worst and your best bits. It was a lively workshop, our notebooks were packed with step-by-step guidelines for tactics to keep writing, and I found myself with ideas as tiny as seeds for my next story.
